No Way, Jose

Spider-Man: No Way Home is great fun, surprisingly touching in places, and even a bit sad, but in a good way. It makes less and less sense the more you think about it, but gets by on momentum and a big heap of charm. It's probably the best of the MCU-Holland series, and overall is the fourth best Spider-Man film, but Into the Spider-Verse remains king of the arachnids.

  1. I avoided replying to this on Facebook, because there are too many opinions on there.

I loved NWH. The first time I saw it, I was in tears for the final third of the film. I don't share your disregard for the Tom Holland movies, nor the view that the cartoon is the best Spidey film ever... I mean, it was all very fine, but it was still a cartoon. So NWH is now my second favourite Spidey film, and very, very close to being Number One.

I'm glad you enjoyed it, anyway. I'm sure Chev will be pointing out all its flaws in 6 months time, but much as I love him, I think I'll respectfully skip that review.

    1. Oh crikey, I have no disregard for the Holland films! I loved Homecoming and while I don't think Far From Home is as good, it's still very good indeed.

Spider-Man 2 is my favourite live-action Spidey, and all of the Holland films slot in before I get to another, discounting The Dragon's Challenge, obviously.

  2. OK, so now I'm curious as to the film in your 3rd place... I'd assumed Raimi 1?

    1. 1. Into the Spider-Verse
      2. Spider-Man 2
      3. The Dragon's Challenge
      4. No Way Home
      5. Homecoming

I freely admit that my love of The Dragon's Challenge is based on nostalgia and the high concept of Spidey-in-a-kung-fu-film, and I haven't seen it in 20+ years. Raimi 1 would probably be 6.

  4. And I thought you were joking.

That said, I've not seen any of god Hammond films/TV since they first came out. It would be interesting to revisit them... and I'd have loved for him to have had a cameo in NWH.

    1. It's a shame Hammond didn't get a cameo. Shinji Todō too.

I have no doubt that The Dragon's Challenge is terrible, but I'm holding on to my childhood memories for now.
