Mince Pie Fest 2024: Infinity Foods

No picture of the box, as they are bakery fresh, so here's a picture of the shop, which is sort of a big brick and concrete box, if you think about it.

The pastry is firm, and so thick it would stop the assembled hordes of Genghis Khan, but it has a pleasant crumble and a nice sweetness.

The filling is thick and rich, and there is plenty of it. It has a nice savoury, almost sour edge that is a perfect balance for the sweetness. There's no hint of booze, but I don't think the pie needs it.

The only downside to these lovely mince pies is the price. £2.10 each or £5.75 for three is a bit steep. They are good, but I'm not sure they are £2.10 good. 4 out of 5. #MincePieADay #MincePieFest2024

    Huzzah!
Infinity Foods uses organic ingredients so that probably affects the price. Also, i have the impression that these mince pies are bigger than most, though i've never directly compared.

    1. The Cornish pasty shop across the road does HUGE mince pies (with an appropriately huge price) most years, but they weren't open this morning.

The Infinity pies don't look much bigger than most shop pies in terms of diameter, but they are much deeper.

I reckon the Infinity mince pies might be about one and a half to two times bigger than the norm. The filling is also more packed in i think. On the other hand i don't think it takes me less time to eat them. I should really do my own research but i'm not situated to do so at the moment.

I've didn't much like the mince pies from the Cornish Pasty Shop. I didn't not eat them but i wouldn't buy them again, unless it were for the greater good.

    1. They did one with a spoonful of lemon curd inside that was unconventional but very tasty indeed. I hope they still make those.
